Foam fire extinguishers can be distinguished by the blue band around the top of the cylinder. The foam extinguisher works to prevent oxygen from reaching the fire by forming a frothy blanket seal over the fuel. Foam extinguishers are well suited to tackle liquid fires such as oil based fuels, paints and solvents.
Foam fire extinguishers are suitable for the following types of fire:
Class A – Ordinary Combustibles.
Class B – Flammable and combustible liquids.
